New stores in bloom

by Liz Kuehn
The desolate atmosphere caused by “For Lease” signs in downtown store windows is finally lifting. New businesses have been moving downtown, bringing about much excitement in the Westfield community.
Here is a look at some of the new stores coming in:

Yapple Yogurt

As the fro-yo craze continues to take over Westfield, Yapple Yogurt opened on 116 Elm St. This self-serve frozen yogurt shop says it offers a healthy option for dessert-lovers. According to yappleyogurt.com, its frozen yogurt is filled with probiotics.

After visiting Yapple Yogurt for the first time, senior Sari Solomon said: “Yapple Yogurt is really kid-friendly. A lot of people from different towns come into Westfield to either just walk around, shop or have dinner, so it’s a perfect town [for a store] to move into, with customers always there.”

Chipotle Mexican Grill

After originally opening in 1993, Chipotle Mexican Grill has decided to open shop in Westfield. It will be operating from 109 East Broad St., in the former location of The Leader Store, according to westfieldnj.gov. Although there are already two Mexican restaurants downtown, according to sophomore Chris Arena, Chipotle offers better prices for higher quality food. With the grand opening approaching, the scent of warm burritos and crispy tacos will soon fill the air on East Broad.

Koi Boutique

Sugar Lips, Michael Stars and Brighton galore! Koi Boutique will be opening up its newest location on 33 Elm St. in the former location of The Dressing Room, according to westfieldtoday.com.

“I think Koi is different from most other stores because it has a variety of everything from clothes, to Vera Bradley, to jewelry and more,” said senior Kayla Krasnoo.
Soon, Westfield residents will have access to Koi’s designer clothes without having to make a trek out of town.
