Fall play to make a splash

by Lydia Seaman
After years of rumors about a pool in various locations in WHS, it may be finally happening. Though the pool would not be for public use, it will play a major part in the theatre department’s fall drama: Metamorphoses.

According to junior Lauren Echausse, Metamorphoses is a compilation of 10 different stories based on Ovid’s Greek myths, including “Pandora’s Box,” “Midas and the Golden Touch” and “Narcissus.” The play explores stories about Greek gods in both ancient and modern times.
Another one of Metamorphoses’ unique elements is that most of the cast members will be playing more than one character, according to Echausse.According to Art Teacher Mr, Roy Chambers, there is a plan proposed to build a reflecting pool in the middle of the auditorium. The construction of the three-foot-deep pool requires the crew to be “in contact with physics teachers to get as much advice as possible,” said Chambers.
According to the plan, above the reflecting pool there will be earth-related sets that reflect the stories of the Greek gods, according to Chambers. The many theatrical elements that make up Metamorphoses will unite to create a fall play good enough for the gods.
