Director J.J. Abrams opens Star Trek Into Darkness with a bang. The viewer is immediately immersed dead center into action.
At the start of the film, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), is frantically running from an indigenous tribe of an alien race on an unknown and dangerous planet.
While Captain Kirk is sprinting for his life, Officer Spock (Zachary Quinto) falls from the sky and crash- lands on a rock surrounded by scorching-hot magma in the middle of an active volcano.
Spock, believing no help is coming, fearlessly waits for his inevitable death to come.
Action sequences like this are not uncommon throughout Star Trek, and it is no wonder why so many fans are attracted to the movie.
This motion picture is more than graphically stunning 3D action, however. The plot is well developed and has the ability to capture the interests of viewers of all ages, regardless of their familiarity with Star Trek. Superb acting and a stellar cast enhance the movie.
The majority of this film takes place aboard the Starship Enterprise, the intergalactic space ship voyaging into the unknown depths of space.
The unknown is an important theme throughout Star Trek, and the viewer’s constant wonder of what is going to happen next keeps them on the edge of their seat.
The latest Star Trek is a great addition to its predecessor, and it seems that Abrams and Paramount Pictures made the right decision in taking the time to develop this film for four years.
