New tech to premiere

by Kaylee Baez

Beginning this school year, several new technologies will be put to use at WHS.

According to Assistant Principal Ms. Mary Asfendis, new student IDs will have a scanning function that will allow students to check into different areas of the building. This recent addition will help avoid confusion about where students are during school hours and reduce issues regarding student cuts. Student ID pictures will also be updated to fit Genesis profiles.

A Bring Your Own Device policy has also been implemented. According to Asfendis, students can now use iPads, laptops and their phones with teacher permission; American Studies and Project ‘79 have access to the wifi network.

Additionally, WHS will be launching a new website called Edline with more options in functionality and easier navigation. Said Master Technology Teacher Mr. Adam Pizzi, “Students will be able to interact with each other and their teachers through blog posts, virtual discussions, etc.”

Added Pizzi, “The ultimate goal with Edline is to foster a tweny-first learning environment and to maximize student engagement.”
