New fashions spring to action

by Jessica Ciampa

After a long winter, it’s finally spring, which means time to put away the boots and vests and break out the Sperrys, flip-flops and tank tops. Here are a few ready-to-go styles for this new spring season:

Maxi skirts—Easily found in many different fabrics, colors and lengths, maxi skirts are a comfortable and classy option to wear for many occasions. A maxi skirt, paired with a casual crop top or simple camisole is the perfect outfit for a spring day. Maxi skirts are an essential piece in any woman’s wardrobe for a day in the city or a visit to the beach. They can be found at J. Crew and Target.
Tie-dye—Whether it be a tank top, t-shirt, dress or shorts, the many colors and cool designs of tie-dye are fun to wear and easy to pair. Tie-dye apparel gives you the opportunity to wear bright colors after a long, dark winter and gives any outfit a pop of color. Tie-dye is also a breeze to pair with simple accessories or other apparel. Look for fun tie-dye styles at PacSun, American Eagle, Forever21 and more.
Colored shorts—Even men can be excited to break out the bright colors for this spring season. Colored shorts for men are a great piece of clothing to wear with many different styles of colored shirts, polos or pullovers. In addition to the many color options, there are also colored and patterned shorts available such as the embroidered style sold at Vineyard Vines. Accessorized with a belt, colored shorts are a great style for spring 2013.
Pocket shirts—Pocket t-shirts come in various colors and can be the perfect touch to complete any look. With this simple, classy and relatively inexpensive shirt, you can look casual in school, fancy at dinner parties and comfortable at the beach. These shirts can be purchased at Vineyard Vines, Polo Ralph Lauren and Under Armour for under $40, with inexpensive versions at Gap.
