Gallery U Boutique is hosting its third annual Primar(il)y Red exhibit until Jan. 5, featuring artwork that celebrates the primary color red. The showcase is free and open to the public.
At the opening reception held Dec. 5, guests were able to meet some of the artists. The exhibition displays artwork in a variety of different styles and media by more than 20 local and emerging artists, according to patch.com. Said Gallery Manager and Curator Mr. Robert Langdon, “We want to celebrate the holidays, but without the Santas and holly, so I thought red on the walls would convey the holiday feeling.”
Said Endy, whose work is displayed in the exhibit: “This is the first—and, at the moment, the only—gallery in Westfield that focuses on bringing locally-made art to the public…. [It’s] real art by real people.”
Local Artist Ms. Linnea W. Rhodes, whose paintings are featured in the exhibit, said, “It’s important to have an identity as a local artist.” Rhodes added that Westfield will be visible in some of the artwork. “People love to recognize local scenes in art. It validates their experiences in and their love for their hometown,” she said.
Said Endy, “At Gallery U, you will see fresh art and have the opportunity to get to know the artists.”
